Traditional medicine practitioners in Edo State have commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for setting up the Edo State Traditional Medicines Board, which aims to regulate and promote traditional medicine practices in the state.
At the inauguration of the board members from the 18 local government areas, Chairman High Chief Abudu Ugbesia emphasized the importance of sanitizing the traditional medicine environment in Edo State. He cautioned practitioners against sharp practices, stating that the board has zero tolerance for such behavior.
Ugbesia praised Governor Okpebholo for correcting the situation, as the previous administration had failed to inaugurate the board after the tenure of the one set up by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole ended in 2016.
The chairman expressed his vision for the board, stating that they will change the face of traditional medicine practices in Edo State and positively change the public’s perception of traditional medicine. He noted that roots and herbs are the key to pure health and that Nigeria can develop its traditional medicine sector to the same level as countries like China.
The inaugurated members pledged to support the chairman in achieving a better traditional medicine practice environment in the state.
