Officers from the National Park Service recently visited Terseer Ugbor, the House of Representatives member for Kwande/Ushongo Constituency, to discuss the development of the proposed Kwande National Park and the state of other national parks across the country.
During the meeting, the officers presented detailed plans for Kwande, a new conservation area poised to become a key ecological site. The park aims to protect local biodiversity while promoting sustainable tourism, offering both environmental and economic benefits to the region.
Discussions also covered ongoing initiatives to enhance the management and conservation efforts of existing national parks. The officers highlighted the need for stronger protection measures, improved monitoring, and greater involvement of local communities in park management. They stressed that community participation is crucial for ensuring long-term ecological balance and economic growth in surrounding areas.
The visit will reaffirmed the National Park Service’s commitment to preserving Nigeria’s natural heritage. It also fostered collaboration between government representatives and conservation stakeholders, setting the stage for a more inclusive approach to environmental protection and sustainable development.
