Florence Otedola, popularly known as Cuppy, is proving that her passion for philanthropy is as strong as her love for music. The DJ, producer, and activist is in the spotlight for her latest initiatives: launching a Hardship Fund at King’s College London and releasing The Cuppy Foundation’s 2024 Report.
Cuppy has a personal connection to education. In the Report, she states, “Education has always been a cornerstone of my journey.” After completing a summer program at the London School of Economics, she recognises the vital role financial aid plays in academic success. This understanding drives The Cuppy Foundation’s mission to support African students in overcoming financial challenges and excelling in their studies.
The King’s College London Hardship Fund is part of a broader effort to ease financial strain for African students. It follows The Cuppy Africa Oxford Scholars Fund at Oxford University and The Cuppy Africa Steinhardt Scholars Fund at New York University. These initiatives help cover essential costs, including living expenses, family support, and disability-related needs.
The 2024 Report showcases a year of major milestones and The Cuppy Foundation’s expanding global reach. While Africa remains a core focus, its partnerships now include organisations such as the United Nations, Save the Children, and The King’s Trust.
Key Highlights from the 2024 Impact Report:
• Save the Children Partnership – Continuing a five-year commitment to education, nutrition, child protection, and sexual reproductive health programs in Northern Nigeria, benefiting thousands in 2024.
• UNGA Leadership – Cuppy had a key role at the 79th UNGA, chairing the opening session for the United Nations Youth Office and performing at the SDG Moment Event.
• King’s Trust Ambassador – As a King’s Trust Celebrity Ambassador, she supported initiatives like “Change A Girl’s Life” and took part in the Prince’s Trust Awards grand final with Ant & Dec.
• Global Advocacy – She collaborated with Procter & Gamble (P&G) at the Global Citizen Festival to promote clean water initiatives in Africa.
The 2024 Impact Report underscores The Cuppy Foundation’s dedication to positive change. Looking ahead to 2025, Cuppy remains committed to empowering more African youth through education and strategic partnerships, ensuring a lasting impact for years to come.
