Soludo Rewards Anambra’s NECO Star with N500k Cash Prize for Outstanding Performance

Awka – In a gesture aimed at promoting academic excellence, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has awarded N500,000 to Miss Ifebude Chelsea Benson, the overall best candidate in the 2023 National Examination Council (NECO) Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.

Miss Ifebude, hailing from Ndikelionwu in Orumba North Local Government Area, achieved a remarkable feat by scoring A1 in all nine subjects she sat for. She is currently pursuing a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Abuja.

The State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, presented the cash award on behalf of the governor to the young scholar, who was represented at the event by her father, Mr. Ben Benson.

Prof. Chuma-Udeh stated that the award reflects Governor Soludo’s commitment to celebrating and encouraging academic brilliance among students in the state. She noted that the government’s substantial investments in the education sector are aimed at elevating the standard of learning in Anambra to global benchmarks, thereby empowering students to excel anywhere in the world.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Benson commended the governor for recognizing and rewarding his daughter’s achievement. He described Governor Soludo as a leader who values diligence and hard work, adding that the gesture would further inspire his daughter to excel and positively represent Anambra State.
