Model Rejected for Being Too Short Sets New Catwalk Record

Nigerian model Ololade Ayelabola has made history by setting a new record for the longest distance walked on a catwalk.

She covered an impressive 125.11 kilometers (77.74 miles) over five days during a fashion event in Lagos.

The 26-year-old embarked on this record-breaking journey after being rejected by a Lagos Fashion Week event due to her height.

Determined to challenge traditional beauty standards, Ayelabola created her own platform to promote inclusivity and diversity in the fashion industry.

Her achievement not only showcases her perseverance but also delivers a strong message about breaking barriers in the modeling world.

**“While at the auditions, the judges said, ‘Oh, you walk well, but you are not tall enough,’ and that broke my heart.

“I went home and started thinking about all the models who’d been told no because they aren’t tall enough or have a skin condition, even though they were talented…

“So, I decided to create a stage, a runway, where people could showcase their talents,”** she revealed.

On its website, Guinness World Records (GWR) wrote:

**“Nigerian model breaks catwalk record after being told she’s not tall enough for runway!

“Ololade Ayelabola achieved the longest distance walked on a catwalk by a model with a staggering total of 125.11 km (77.74 mi)…

“She’s been working as a model for six years, but Ololade was once told she wasn’t tall enough after auditioning for Lagos Fashion Week.”**
