A heartbreaking incident occurred yesterday in Mbaiwen, Adikpo, as a young girl lost her life after being struck by a thunderstone during a rainstorm.
The tragic event took place at the compound of Mrs. Celina Agbatse, where the victim had gone to fetch water. As the rain began to fall, she sought shelter in front of the house, waiting for it to subside. Sadly, she was struck by a powerful thunderstone, suffering fatal injuries.
Eyewitnesses immediately rushed her to the General Hospital in Adikpo, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Her body has since been deposited in the hospital’s mortuary.
The sudden and devastating loss has left the entire community in shock, with residents mourning the young girl’s untimely passing. Many have called for increased awareness of lightning safety, urging people to seek enclosed and secure shelter during thunderstorms.
