Court Halts Recall Process Against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The Federal High Court in Lokoja, on Thursday, 20th March 2025, issued an interim injunction stopping INEC, its staff, agents, privies, or assigns from accepting or acting on any petition signed by members of Kogi Central Senatorial District. The injunction also bars INEC from conducting a referendum on such a petition to initiate a recall process against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan until the Motion on Notice is decided.

The ruling followed an “Ex-parte application for interim injunction supported by an Affidavit of Extreme Urgency” and other court processes sworn by Anebe Jacob Ogirima and four other registered voters.

Smart Nwachimere, Esq of West-Idahosa, SAN & Co., moved the application. The case was adjourned to 6th May 2025 for a report of service and further mention.
