Protesters Shut Ondo Governor’s Office Over Farmers Killed by Herdsmen

Angry protesters have shut down the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, Akure, following the killing of five more farmers by armed herdsmen at Aba Oyinbo in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The victims were reportedly shot dead during another attack by the assailants in the early hours of Wednesday. Protesters, frustrated by the state government’s perceived inaction, stormed the Governor’s Office, displaying the bodies of those killed.

The demonstration caused major disruptions, leaving commuters and motorists stranded on the Akure/Owo Road. Protesters also gathered in Ogbese, where they barricaded the road to express their anger.

“The deceased were shot dead in another invasion by the hoodlums in the early hours of Wednesday.”

This attack comes just weeks after another deadly assault in the same local government, where 20 farmers were reportedly killed in four farm settlements by armed herdsmen.
