Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has reinstated Samson Osagie as the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, five weeks after his suspension over alleged financial infractions.Osagie’s recall comes after an investigative panel cleared him of any wrongdoing.
Upon his suspension, Osagie had maintained his innocence and expressed willingness to cooperate with any investigation. A letter from the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, dated March 12, 2025, informed Osagie of his reinstatement, effective immediately.
Osagie has since commended Governor Okpebholo for his “sincerity of purpose and vision” for the state. He reiterated his commitment to the governor’s administration and pledged to work towards restoring Edo State’s lost ground.
Osagie’s suspension had sparked controversy, but his recall suggests that the Edo State Government is committed to fairness and due process. As Osagie resumes his duties, he is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the state’s legal and justice landscape.
