In a decisive move to bolster security at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex in Awka, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has implemented a series of protective measures, including advanced surveillance technology and improved perimeter security.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, announced on Wednesday that the initiative is part of the administration’s commitment to fortifying security across key government facilities.
High-Tech Security Enhancements
The newly installed security infrastructure includes:
✅ 40 CCTV cameras for real-time monitoring of activities within the secretariat.
✅ Two hybrid solar-powered control rooms to ensure uninterrupted surveillance.
✅ Solar-powered streetlights to improve night visibility and deter criminal activities.
Mefor also revealed that additional security measures had been put in place, including:
✔ Reinforced perimeter fencing with barbed wire to prevent unauthorized access.
✔ Iron security protectors installed on doors and windows to prevent break-ins.
✔ Closure of exposed drainage areas, which previously served as illegal entry points.
Improved Access and Security Coordination
To further enhance safety, the security team managing the complex has been restructured for better coordination. Additionally, the access road leading to the secretariat has been rehabilitated, improving movement within the area.
“These interventions reflect Governor Soludo’s proactive approach to security, ensuring that government employees can work in a safe and secure environment,” Mefor stated.
This latest initiative aligns with the governor’s broader vision of strengthening security infrastructure across Anambra State, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to public safety and efficient governance.
