80-Year-Old Trader Fatally Stabbed at Ogun Market, Suspect Arrested

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of an 80-year-old trader, Ladan Bature, who was fatally stabbed during an argument at the Kara Cattle Market on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

According to Police Spokesperson Omolola Odutola, Bature was stabbed with a knife in front of the Kara Market mosque by Haiye Aginni on Monday. Despite efforts by traders and residents to rush him to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

Upon receiving the report, officers from the Ojodu Abiodun Police Division acted swiftly, arresting the suspect.

Odutola stated, “Following the report to the Ojodu Abiodun Police Division, detectives swiftly took action and arrested the suspect.

“Bature’s body has been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital morgue in Sagamu for preservation and autopsy.”

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta.
