The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently questioning former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Ohanenye, over allegations of misappropriation, procurement violations, and diversion of public funds totaling ₦138 million.

A senior EFCC official disclosed that Ohanenye arrived at the agency’s headquarters around 11 a.m. on Thursday and is being interrogated regarding her involvement in alleged financial misconduct related to the 2023 budget allocation for the ministry.

The source stated, “Investigators are questioning Uju Kennedy Ohanenye over her alleged involvement in the misappropriation and diversion of public funds totaling ₦138,413,253.89.”

The EFCC’s findings suggest that funds intended for the P-Bat Cares for Women Initiative were allegedly diverted for personal use.

Attempts to get a response from EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale were unsuccessful at the time of this report.

Ohanenye was among five ministers dismissed by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024 and was succeeded by Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, former Minister of State for Police Affairs.
