As the holy month of Ramadan begins, Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has called on Muslims to pray for peace in the state and across Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful, urging them to embrace the spirit of Ramadan by showing love, generosity, and compassion to their neighbors, especially the less privileged.
“As the crescent moon marks the beginning of this sacred month, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all Muslim faithful in Edo State and across the nation,” Okpebholo stated. “Ramadan is a time of deep spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and devotion. It is a period of fasting, prayer, and charity, encouraging a stronger connection with the Almighty and fostering unity within our communities.”
He urged Muslims to take this opportunity to pray for the peace and progress of Edo State and Nigeria while embodying the values of kindness and generosity.
“I encourage everyone, particularly the Muslim faithful, to use this blessed period to strengthen their faith, support those in need, and promote harmony among the people of Edo State. Let us remember the less fortunate and extend our blessings to them, reflecting the true essence of Ramadan.”
The governor also called on Muslims to continue praying for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration as they work to improve the lives of Nigerians and address the nation’s challenges.
“May Allah (SWT) accept your fasts, prayers, and good deeds. May this Ramadan draw us all closer to Him and fill our hearts with peace, joy, and abundant blessings.”
On behalf of the government and the people of Edo State, Okpebholo wished all Muslims a blessed and fulfilling Ramadan Kareem.
