U.S. President Donald Trump is facing criticism on his Truth Social platform after posting an AI-generated video that depicts him drinking cocktails with a topless Benjamin Netanyahu in Gaza. The video portrays a futuristic version of Gaza, devastated by Israel’s war, as part of Trump’s proposed development plan.
His plan, called the “Riviera of the Middle East,” suggests removing the current population of around 2 million people. Critics have condemned it as a form of ethnic cleansing.
One Truth Social user commented, “I could not be a bigger supporter of President Trump but this particular video is in very poor taste. Very poor taste, indeed!” Another added, “I hate this. I love our president, but this is horrible.”
The video may have been particularly controversial among Trump’s Christian supporters. Some comments referenced the idolatry of a golden statue, while others criticized a scene showing Trump in a nightclub with a bellydancer as onlookers watched.
A user named Kainoa P cautioned Trump, writing, “You’re doing great Mr President. But don’t let it get to your head. God put you in that position for His glory, not yours.”
Meanwhile, Israel is facing accusations of genocide in Gaza, where nearly 50,000 people—mostly civilians—have been killed since the war began following Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants for both Netanyahu and Hamas’s military leader, Mohammed Deif, on war crimes charges.
Trump’s latest proposal was made without consulting Palestinian leaders. Additionally, key Middle Eastern nations, including Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, have firmly rejected the plan.
