Finland Seasonal Work Permit for Nigerians: How to Apply and What You Need to Know

The Finnish Immigration Service has officially opened applications for the Finland Seasonal Work Permit 2025, offering foreign workers opportunities in agriculture, forestry, and tourism. These permits allow migrant workers to take up temporary jobs in Finland for up to nine months within a 12-month period.

If you’re interested in working in Finland this year, you must apply for the appropriate seasonal work permit before traveling.

Types of Seasonal Work Permits

There are two main types of permits based on the duration of employment:

1. Seasonal Work Visa (Up to 3 Months)

If you’re from a country that requires a visa, you must apply at a Finnish embassy before traveling.

If you’re from a visa-exempt country, you can apply for a certificate for seasonal work instead of a visa.

2. Residence Permit for Seasonal Work (3 to 9 Months)

For jobs lasting between three and nine months, a residence permit for seasonal work is required.

You must apply before entering Finland.

Processing can take up to 90 days, so it’s best to apply early.

Key Requirements

To qualify for a seasonal work permit, applicants must meet the following conditions:

Job Offer & Contract: You must have a signed employment contract from a Finnish employer.

Minimum Wage: Workers must earn at least €1,430 per month (or as per collective agreements).

Accommodation: You must arrange housing that meets Finnish health and safety standards.

Complete Application: Ensure all required documents are submitted to avoid delays.

Application Process

Follow these steps to apply:

1. Find a Job: Look for opportunities in agriculture, forestry, or tourism.

2. Sign a Contract: Secure a legally binding employment contract.

3. Gather Documents: Prepare your passport, contract, and proof of accommodation.

4. Choose the Right Permit: Apply for a seasonal work visa (up to 3 months) or a residence permit (3-9 months).

5. Pay Fees & Submit Application: Complete your application and pay the required fees.

6. Track Your Application: Monitor your status on the Finnish Immigration Service website.

Applying early increases your chances of securing a job and starting your journey to work in Finland!
