The local government election in Osun State commenced on a promising note as Governor Ademola Adeleke exercised his civic duty by casting his vote early on election day. The governor, accompanied by his supporters and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arrived at Unit 9, Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, in Ede North Local Government Area and voted at approximately 7:56 a.m.
Addressing journalists and residents after voting, Governor Adeleke called on the electorate to actively participate in the process without fear of intimidation. He emphasized the importance of a free, fair, and peaceful election, urging all political stakeholders, party supporters, and voters to uphold democratic values and eschew violence during and after the polls.
“I want to urge everyone to come out and cast their votes. The election will be peaceful,” Adeleke reassured. Expressing confidence in the strength of the PDP candidates, the governor stated his belief that the party would secure victory in the local government polls.
Governor Adeleke also commended the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) for ensuring a smooth and well-organized election process. He lauded the commission’s commitment to transparency and its role in maintaining orderliness at polling stations across the state.
