The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) has expelled Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, a 300-level student, for physically assaulting a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies. This decision follows a report from the Student Disciplinary Committee, which found Chimamaka guilty of gross misconduct and violation of the Students Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4.
According to the Acting Registrar, Victor Modebelu, the Acting Vice-Chancellor approved the Committee’s recommendation to expel Chimamaka from the university, effective immediately. The student has been directed to vacate the university premises and return all university property in her possession.
The incident, which occurred on February 11, was captured in a viral video and sparked widespread outrage. The university’s decision to expel Chimamaka reinforces its commitment to maintaining discipline and order within its academic community.
Chimamaka’s expulsion serves as a reminder of the consequences of violating campus conduct codes. The university’s actions demonstrate its prioritization of institutional decorum and its commitment to upholding its disciplinary policies.
