Emir of Rano Bans Church Activities in Residential Buildings

The Emir of Rano, Ambassador Muhammad Isa Umaru, has issued a strict ban on church activities within residential buildings in the Emirate.

This decision came after multiple petitions from concerned residents, leading the Emir to establish a special investigative committee.

The committee’s findings confirmed that a church in Yadi Quarters, Rano town, was holding services in a residential house without following proper legal procedures.

Rano Emirate has 27 certified churches where Christians worship freely without interference.

The investigation verified that a church in Yadi Quarters, Rano town, was operating in a residential building without legal authorization.

Rano Emirate is home to 27 approved churches where Christians practice their faith without restriction.

However, unauthorized worship in residential buildings led to dissatisfaction among locals, prompting formal complaints.

Based on the committee’s report, the Emir immediately ordered a stop to all church activities in residential buildings to maintain peace.

Committee Secretary, Alhaji Umar Isa Sarki, stated that multiple petitions questioned the legality of church services being held in private homes.

Attempts to get a response from the Kano chapter chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
