Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have successfully rescued the Onogie of Udo-Eguare, a traditional ruler in Edo Central, who was kidnapped on February 3. The rescue operation took place on Friday at about 6 pm, according to CSP Moses Yamu, the command’s Public Relations Officer.
Yamu attributed the success of the rescue operation to sustained police efforts, supported by the Edo State Government, vigilantes, hunters, and other well-meaning residents of the state. The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Betty Otimenyin, had vowed to rescue the kidnapped traditional ruler, and her team worked tirelessly to keep that promise.
The command expressed gratitude to the state government for its logistic support, particularly Governor Monday Okpebholo. Yamu also appreciated the vigilantes, hunters, and other residents who contributed to the successful rescue operation.
“The general public is assured that the command’s commitment to the fight against crime remains unshaken,” Yamu stated.
