Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Interior, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, ex-Governor of Kano State, held a marathon meeting in Lagos to discuss their plans for the 2027 general election. According to sources, the meeting was a strategic session to explore possibilities of working together against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) .
The meeting has sparked speculation that Aregbesola and his supporters may join the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), led by Kwankwaso. Details of the discussion were not made public, but sources suggest that the alliance could be a significant challenge to the APC in the upcoming election .
Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, was recently expelled from the APC after falling out with President Bola Tinubu and his successor in Osun, Gboyega Oyetola. Kwankwaso, on the other hand, has been building his NNPP party, which could potentially become a strong opposition force in the 2027 election.
