The Nigerian military community is mourning the loss of a distinguished officer, Major General Chris Jemitola (Rtd), who passed away on Thursday morning after collapsing at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja. Family sources confirmed that Jemitola was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival .
Jemitola had an illustrious military career, serving as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to former President Olusegun Obasanjo from 2003 to 2007. He demonstrated unwavering dedication and professionalism during his tenure, rising through the ranks to become Director of Defence Information, Defence Attaché at the Nigerian Embassy in Brazil, and eventually Chief of Policy and Plans (COPP) within the Nigerian Army.
After retiring from active service, Jemitola transitioned to the private sector, serving as a Senior Advisor for Military Communications at Pinnacle Communications Limited from 2019 ³. His sudden passing has sent shockwaves through the military and defense communities, with colleagues and associates mourning the loss of a dedicated officer and strategist.
As of now, Jemitola’s family has not released an official statement regarding funeral arrangements. However, tributes have begun pouring in from military officials and associates, honoring his legacy and contributions to national security.
