Armed bandits have launched a series of deadly attacks in Kaduna State, leaving a trail of death and destruction in their wake. On Tuesday night, bandits stormed Tsohuwan Gayan village in Chikun Local Government Area, killing four residents and injuring two others. The injured were rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Kaduna town.
A village source described the assailants as heavily armed, saying they launched a coordinated, military-style assault on the community. The source added that the corpses were drenched in blood, as the bandits had fired multiple rounds into the victims.
This attack comes on the heels of another deadly assault on Zakada village in Kauru local government area last Friday, which left seven locals dead and several others kidnapped. A distraught resident, Muhammad Sani, confirmed the development to SaharaReporters, adding that some houses were torched and properties looted by the bandits.
The attacks have sparked widespread fear among residents, who accuse the bandits of targeting them for allegedly spying for security forces. The Community Development Associations’ (CDAs) forum has condemned the attacks, urging the government to strengthen security measures to protect lives and property.
In a statement, the forum’s PRO, Daniel D. Achi, expressed deep concern over the escalating activities of armed bandits, noting that people are being “attacked and kidnapped almost daily without fear.” The forum added that insecurity has forced many residents to abandon their homes, leaving behind farm produce that is yet to be harvested.
The attacks are part of a larger trend of violence in Kaduna State, which has seen a surge in banditry and kidnapping in recent weeks .
