In a surprise move, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has sacked five commissioners, including two who were recently recalled from suspension. The governor immediately announced five new commissioner-nominees to replace the sacked officials.
According to Musa Ashoms, the state Commissioner for Information, the governor’s decision was confirmed on Wednesday. Ashoms stated, “Yes, it is true. Five commissioners have been removed. The governor has also nominated five new Commissioners to replace them.”
The sacked commissioners include:
– Sule Haruna*: Ministry of Commerce and Industry
-Obed Nanjul*: Ministry of Science and Technology
– Noel Nkup*: Ministry of Youth and Sports Development
– Chrysantus Dawan*: Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning
– Jamila Tukur*: Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Hospitality
Notably, Chrysanthus Dawan and Jamila Tukur were recalled from suspension just three months ago. The reasons behind the governor’s decision were not disclosed by Ashoms.
The new commissioner-nominees are:
– Sunday Akpan*: From Bassa Local Government Area
– Joyce Ramnap*: From Langtang South
– Sylvanus Dongtoe*: From Shendam
– Dr. Nicholas Baamlong*: From Quaapan
– Cornelius Doeyok*: From Quaapan LGA
The governor’s office expressed appreciation for the services of the sacked commissioners and wished them well in their future endeavors.
