A controversy has erupted at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) as the newly appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has been accused of taking sides with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, in a sexual harassment case filed against the VC by a female staff member, Engineer Folasade Adebayo.
According to sources, despite evidence implicating the VC, Ndoma-Egba has ignored it and is instead supporting Fasina. The sources also claim that Ndoma-Egba has vowed to deal with the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) union, which has been vocal about the allegations of sexual harassment and victimization.
The alleged victim, Engineer Adebayo, may face suspension today (Friday) by the Governing Council of FUOYE. This move has sparked outrage among staff members, who are questioning Ndoma-Egba’s motives and wondering how someone in his position could make such an “ungodly statement.”
Ndoma-Egba has denied the allegations, stating that the Governing Council will establish a committee to review the matter. However, sources claim that evidence implicating the VC was forwarded to Ndoma-Egba, but he ignored it.
The controversy has sparked a debate among FUOYE staff, with many calling for President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Education to intervene and ensure that justice is served.
