APC Chieftain Hails Relocation of Edo Tribunal to Abuja

A former Chief Press Secretary to ex-Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Mr. John Mayaki, has commended the relocation of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal from Benin City to Abuja. Mayaki believes this decision will ensure the safety of tribunal members, litigants, and electoral materials used as evidence.

Mayaki noted that relocating election petition tribunals is not uncommon, citing previous instances in Ebonyi, Adamawa, Osun, Rivers, Kogi, and Ekiti. He expressed support for any decision that promotes neutrality, impartiality, and security, emphasizing the importance of upholding the judiciary’s credibility and protecting the election petition process’s integrity.

Mayaki views the relocation as timely, demonstrating a commitment to fairness and justice, free from local pressures and distractions. This sentiment is shared by other APC members, who have commended the judiciary for responding to appeals to relocate election petition cases to Abuja, ensuring a fair and impartial process.
