Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has reassured neighboring countries of Nigeria’s dedication to maintaining regional peace and security. Speaking during a Christmas luncheon with troops of “Operation Fansan Yamma” in Sokoto, Gen. Musa vowed that Nigerian borders will not be used as a launchpad for attacks on neighboring nations ¹.
Gen. Musa emphasized that Nigeria will not host any foreign military bases on its soil, reiterating the country’s commitment to mutual security and collaboration with neighboring countries, including Niger, Chad, Cameroon, Benin, and Togo.
The defence chief urged Nigerians to view national security as a collective responsibility, cautioning against those who exploit religious or ethnic sentiments to mislead communities. He also warned communities against harboring criminal elements, stating that the military will take decisive action against such threats.
Gen. Musa commended President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support of the Armed Forces and thanked Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu and the people of the state for their continued backing of military efforts in the region.
The Chief of Defence Staff reaffirmed the military’s commitment to eradicating criminal elements and urged the troops to stay vigilant and focused. “You exemplify the finest traditions of the Armed Forces. Stay united and continue to make us proud,” he encouraged.
