Prominent Nigerian activist and social media influencer, Very Dark Man, has announced a staggering financial loss from his NGO’s funds, claiming ₦180 million was diverted after the organization’s website was hacked. The revelation has raised concerns about financial accountability and transparency within his organization.
Speaking on the incident, Very Dark Man disclosed, “Our website was breached by hackers, and we’ve lost a significant amount of money meant for humanitarian projects. We are devastated, but we’re cooperating with authorities to recover the funds.”
Authorities have already made progress in the investigation, with one suspect reportedly apprehended. However, the breach has not only highlighted security vulnerabilities but also attracted public scrutiny over the NGO’s financial practices.
The controversy deepened after music producer Don Jazzy donated ₦100 million to support the NGO’s recovery efforts. “This is my contribution to ensure their work continues. The goals of the NGO align with my passion for helping the less privileged,” Don Jazzy explained.
However, the donation sparked backlash, with critics accusing Very Dark Man of hypocrisy. In the past, he had criticized Don Jazzy for financially supporting Bobrisky, a popular internet personality. A social media user remarked, “It’s ironic that Very Dark Man now accepts funds from someone he once condemned. Where’s the consistency?”
Adding to the controversy, some donors have voiced concerns over the NGO’s financial transparency. In recent months, Very Dark Man stopped sharing public updates on the NGO’s account balance, a move that has raised eyebrows. “What’s happening? Why the sudden secrecy?” one donor questioned on Facebook.
Despite the challenges, Very Dark Man remains committed to addressing the financial crisis and restoring trust in the NGO. “We will bounce back stronger. Our mission to uplift lives remains unchanged,” he assured supporters.
The incident has intensified public discourse on the need for financial accountability within NGOs, as donors call for stringent measures to ensure transparency and proper fund utilization.
