The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has initiated a comprehensive nationwide fire safety sensitization campaign to address the increasing risk of fire outbreaks during the harmattan season. This proactive measure, implemented through its Zonal Territorial and Operations Offices, aims to equip communities with the knowledge and tools necessary to prevent and manage fire-related emergencies.
The campaign is being carried out in collaboration with the Federal and State Fire Services and is designed to engage critical stakeholders, including tanker drivers, market associations, local businesses, and grassroots volunteers. These groups are being prioritized due to their roles in activities that can pose fire risks.
Empowering Tanker Drivers and Market Associations
A key component of the initiative focuses on educating tanker drivers on fire safety protocols. NEMA is providing training on preventive practices, emergency response techniques, and safe handling procedures to reduce the likelihood of fire incidents.
