Katsina Police Arrest 11 Suspects in Connection with Bandit Support and Sexual Assault Cases

The Katsina State Police Command has successfully apprehended 11 suspects linked to two major criminal activities: the supply of security uniforms to armed bandits and the sexual assault of minors.

In the first case, Aminu Hassan, a 25-year-old resident of Dundubus, Daja Local Government Area (LGA), was arrested on November 19, 2024, during a routine patrol along the Yantumaki and Kankara highway. Hassan was caught with two pairs of military uniforms concealed in a black polythene bag. He is alleged to have been a financier of armed bandits operating in Danmusa LGA and its environs.

According to ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the spokesperson for the Katsina Police Command, further investigations led to the arrest of three additional suspects: Lawal M. Ahmad (29), Isma’il Dalhatu (24), and Shafi’u Adamu (28). The police recovered a total of 14 pairs of military uniforms and one police uniform from the suspects. These uniforms were reportedly meant to be delivered to armed bandits for use in their criminal operations.

“The suspects have confessed to their involvement in this criminal activity,” ASP Sadiq stated.

In a separate development, police operatives in Kaita LGA arrested seven individuals accused of sexually assaulting four minors aged between 13 and 14. The arrests followed a report lodged at the Kaita Divisional Police Headquarters on November 25, 2024.

ASP Sadiq revealed that the suspects lured the minors to the home of one of their accomplices, where the assaults occurred. The suspects have confessed to the crimes and are set to face charges in court after the conclusion of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Musa Aliyu, commended the officers involved for their commitment and professionalism in apprehending the suspects. He reassured the public of the police’s unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Katsina State.

“We urge the public to continue providing valuable information to support our efforts in combating crime. The Katsina State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and property,” CP Musa Aliyu stated.

The arrests serve as a significant step in addressing security challenges in the state, highlighting the importance of community collaboration in tackling crime.
