A Turkish company, Direkci Group, is poised to launch mechanized farming and introduce greenhouse technology in Zamfara State, Nigeria. This development is expected to significantly boost agriculture in the state.
According to Governor Dauda Lawal’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, the Managing Director and CEO of Direkci Group, Nurullah Mehmet, recently led a delegation on an official visit to the governor at the Government House in Gusau. The visit highlighted the company’s plans to transform agriculture in Zamfara through large-scale cultivation of cotton, sugarcane, and soybeans.
The Direkci Group plans to implement advanced methods such as mechanized farming, greenhouse technology, and poultry farming, promising significant benefits across various sectors. Governor Lawal reiterated his administration’s dedication to achieving food security and creating employment opportunities for the people of Zamfara State.
Lawal emphasized that his government will focus on security, agriculture, food security, education, healthcare, the economy, and empowerment. He noted that Zamfara is recognized as an agricultural society and that his goal is to revive this sector by securing the state and providing advanced technologies for farmers.
The Direkci Group’s initiative in Zamfara State is expected to enhance agriculture value chains, attract investment, and foster local economic growth. The introduction of greenhouses will allow for year-round cultivation, improving crop yield and quality, and reducing import dependence. Mechanized farming and poultry initiatives will also create employment opportunities across various skill levels.
