The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has taken a bold step to enhance its enforcement capabilities by establishing an armed squad. The initiative received approval from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), granting the Commission the authority to bear arms for effective operations.
On Wednesday, 109 newly trained operatives of the ICPC’s armed unit were officially commissioned in a ceremony at the Aguiyi Ironsi Cantonment, Asokoro, Abuja. ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu, represented by Director of Operations Shehu Yahaya, hailed the development as a significant milestone in the agency’s fight against corruption.
The operatives underwent an intensive month-long training program to prepare for their new roles in enforcing anti-graft measures across the nation. This marks a new chapter in the Commission’s mission to combat corruption and related offences effectively.
