During a state dinner in Paris on Thursday, a French band entertained guests by performing the popular Nigerian song “Testimony (Taste the Money)” by P-Square in honor of President Bola Tinubu.
The dinner, held at the prestigious Palais de l’Élysée, was part of Tinubu’s three-day state visit to France aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
The performance, which quickly went viral, showcased the band’s ability to merge Nigerian Afrobeat rhythms with a distinct French twist, creating a unique musical experience.
The rendition of P-Square’s hit was met with enthusiasm from the audience, which included President Tinubu and his wife, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu. Both appeared visibly pleased and delighted by the cultural tribute.
In addition to “Testimony (Taste the Money),” the band further celebrated Nigerian music by performing “Mama Africa” by Bracket. This gesture not only honored Nigerian culture but also highlighted the growing global recognition of Afrobeat music.
