Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing the country’s out-of-school crisis and prioritizing education for Nigerian children. During a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Palais des Élysée in France, Tinubu emphasized the importance of education in Nigeria’s future development.
According to Tinubu, his administration will focus on reintegrating school-age children into classrooms through return-to-class initiatives and skills development programs. He also highlighted the critical role of motivation and skill-building in addressing the country’s educational challenges.
Tinubu acknowledged that insecurity in some regions has impacted school attendance but reassured that efforts are being made to improve security and repopulate classrooms. He also emphasized the importance of skills development for older children who have been out of school for a while.
The Nigerian President’s commitment to education comes amid worsening hardship and hunger in Nigeria. Tinubu has pledged to address these issues, stating that “no child should go to bed hungry in the 21st century.”
