Renowned American preacher, Bishop Thomas Dexter (T.D.) Jakes, suffered a medical emergency while delivering a sermon on Sunday at the Potter’s House of Dallas, Texas. A video of the incident shows Bishop Jakes lowering his microphone, shaking in his seat, and then being rushed to receive medical attention.
According to a statement from the church, Bishop Jakes “experienced a slight health incident” and is currently “stable and under the care of medical professionals.” The church expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.
The 67-year-old celebrity pastor and motivational speaker had been speaking about the joys of preaching shortly before the incident occurred. He was quoting Psalm 19:14 when he suddenly stopped speaking and appeared to spasm.
Attendees rushed on stage to help him, and a speaker asked the audience to pray for him while he was being tended to. The church later posted an update on Bishop Jakes’ condition, thanking the community for their prayers and support.
