Governors Urged to Align with Tinubu’s Reform Policies Amid Fuel Subsidy Removal

State governors have been called upon to provide leadership that aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s reform policies, particularly following the removal of fuel subsidy. This charge was made during a seminar and interactive forum held in Yola, Adamawa State, where stakeholders gathered to discuss the government’s role in stabilizing the country.

According to Professor Asaju Kayode, a Professor of Administration, the lack of synergy among the three tiers of government has hindered the implementation of development plans in Nigeria. He identified challenges such as lack of budget discipline, ineffective educational sector, high rate of corruption, poverty, and unemployment .

Edgar Amos, Chief of Staff to Governor Fintiri, emphasized the need for state governors to provide focused leadership that supports the Federal Government’s reform efforts. He noted that since the removal of the fuel subsidy, Nigerians have been seeking solutions from their state governors to alleviate their suffering.

Development specialist Dr. Maurice Vonobolki stressed that state governors must provide leadership that aligns with the central government’s reform plans to improve human development indices for their citizens.

The call for governors to align with President Tinubu’s reform policies comes as the country navigates economic uncertainties, including the impact of the fuel subsidy removal, which has led to increased transport costs and prices of petrol averaging N660 per litre.
