Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has directed the arrest and prosecution of six individuals, including Mr. Ndukwe Ayansi, for allegedly diverting materials intended for the State Ministry of Health. The governor’s directive came after he discovered a Toyota Dyana truck loading registers, books, and other materials from the ministry’s warehouse during a project inspection.
Upon further inquiry, Governor Nwifuru found that patient data registers, cards, and other documents were being loaded onto the vehicle without authorization. It was also revealed that the documents had already been sold without government approval. The governor condemned the act as sabotage against the government’s efforts to improve the health sector.
The suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation. Governor Nwifuru emphasized that the illegal sale of government documents would not be tolerated, especially when rural hospitals are in need of such materials.
