Nigerian Defence Headquarters Dismisses Allegations of Navy Sabotage

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has described as “laughable” allegations made by Ekpemuopolo, alias Tompolo, that the Nigerian Navy is sabotaging efforts to combat crude oil theft. Tompolo, Chairman of Tantitta Security Services, had accused Navy personnel of hindering his company’s fight against oil thieves in the Niger Delta.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, responded to the allegations, stating that the Navy’s efforts to rid the Niger Delta of economic saboteurs and crude oil thieves are evident in the increased crude oil production. Buba emphasized that the DHQ seeks cooperation, not conflict, and is committed to working with stakeholders to boost oil production.

The DHQ’s response comes after Tompolo called on Nigerians to join the fight against oil theft, accusing the Navy of being a clog in his company’s efforts. However, Buba assured that the Navy’s efforts are yielding positive results, and the increase in crude oil production is a testament to their hard work.

In a related development, Major General Buba announced that those responsible for the killing of three soldiers at a checkpoint in Abia State would be tracked down and brought to justice. He urged innocent citizens in the area not to panic, assuring that the military would operate within the bounds of their rules of engagement.
