The Katsina State Community Watch Corps (CWC), Batsari Command, has apprehended Sanusi Bature, a resident of Tsabawa village in Safana Local Government Area, for allegedly serving as an informant to bandits terrorizing the region. Bature was accused of aiding the abduction of over 50 civilians from neighboring Surugi community, for which he reportedly received ₦250,000.
In a shocking confession, Bature admitted to providing the bandits with intelligence on the movement of security personnel. He revealed that the bandits would contact him to inquire about the safety of the area, and he would advise them on when to avoid the area to ensure the success of their operations.
Bature’s confession also included details of the harrowing Shirgi attack, in which over 50 people were abducted, and he was given ₦250,000. He also mentioned that seven people were abducted from his village, Tsabawa, but were later rescued.
The CWC confirmed that Bature admitted to all allegations against him during questioning. However, attempts to reach the Katsina State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, were unsuccessful.
This arrest comes amidst the ongoing efforts to combat banditry in Katsina State. Just last month, terrorists killed nine Katsina State Community Watch Corps and vigilante members in Faskari and Matazu.
