A coalition of Nigerian youths, students, and civil society organizations has urged Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun to immediately release Peace Corps Commandant Dickson Akoh or face a mass protest. The coalition condemned the recent trend of police brutality under Egbetokun’s leadership during an emergency press conference in Abuja on Saturday.
Hobnob News reported that Egbetokun ordered Akoh’s arrest over a tenancy dispute, with armed policemen invading the Peace Corps Head Office, vandalizing properties, and arresting 16 officers alongside Akoh.
