Okpebholo’s Transition Committee Adjourns Indefinitely Over Lack of Vital Documents

The transition committee set up by Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Edo governor-elect, has adjourned indefinitely due to the outgoing administration’s alleged failure to provide vital documents necessary for a smooth transition. This decision was announced by Patrick Ikhariale, secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) transition committee in Edo.

The state government had requested Okpebholo to set up a team for a seamless transition, proposing October 14 as the inaugural meeting date for both teams. However, despite several discussions with the outgoing governor’s team, key documents remain unavailable.

Ikhariale stated that the materials supplied so far do not address the issues on the table, emphasizing the need for documents that align with global best practices. The committee has sent a letter to the outgoing administration, seeking the required information and documents.

The transition committee will reconvene once the necessary documents and information are available, with a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to enable thorough review and informed discussion.
