Storm Over Redeployment of Tinubu’s CSO

A recent move by the Department of State Services (DSS) to replace Adegboyega Fasasi, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Bola Tinubu, has sparked controversy in Abuja’s top intelligence and political circles. The DSS’s new Director-General, Tosin Ajayi, withdrew Fasasi and replaced him with Rasheed Lawal, a deputy director in the service.

Critics view this move as a witch-hunt aimed at breaking down Fasasi’s perceived political influence. However, others see it as a bold step to restore professionalism in the service. According to sources, Fasasi’s promotions under the previous DSS Director-General, Mr. Bichi, were made without the required professional courses.

The redeployment aims to address concerns raised by Senator Ndume about accessibility to the President. Additionally, Fasasi’s professional training is necessary to sustain his career path in the service. While some politicians criticize the move, many applaud it as essential for promoting the presidency’s overall wellbeing.
