A 42-year-old teacher, Gbolahan Osinusi, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly defiling a teenage girl in the Ketu-Epe area. Osinusi, also the victim’s guardian, reportedly had sexual intercourse with her from age 12 to 17.
According to Lagos Police Command Spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, Osinusi forced the survivor to swear an oath not to reveal the abuse, threatening her with death if she did. Whenever the girl got pregnant, Osinusi allegedly took her to nurse Mariam Fatolu for abortion drugs.
In a statement, Hundeyin said, “On 30/09/24 at about 1500hrs, a case of defilement/abortion was transferred from Festac Division to Gender unit of Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja.” The complaint alleged that Osinusi had been abusing the girl since she was 12, forcing her to swear secrecy and obtaining abortion drugs from Fatolu.
Osinusi was charged to court on October 16. Fatolu is currently receiving medical attention at General Hospital Ketu-Epe and will face charges soon.
Hundeyin’s statement reads in part: “The said Gbolahan Osinusi has been charged to court, on 16/10/24 while the said Mariam is currently admitted for medical attention at General Hospital Ketu-Epe. She will be charged to court as soon as possible.”
