The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the national grid, which experienced a partial disturbance on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 6:48 pm, is nearing full recovery.
According to TCN, recovery efforts commenced immediately, with Azura power station providing the blackstart. By 10:24 am on Tuesday, the grid had reached advanced stages of recovery before encountering a brief setback.
Despite the minor delay, TCN continued its efforts, achieving:
– Bulk power availability to approximately 90% of substations nationwide
– Supply restoration to Abuja and major distribution load centers
The Ibom Gas generating station remained operational, supplying areas in the South-South region, including Eket, Ekim, Uyo, and Itu.
TCN will conduct an investigation into the incident’s cause once the grid is fully restored.
With recovery almost complete, Nigerians can expect a return to normal power supply soon.
