The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced plans to refund N67,500 to approximately 95,000 pilgrims who experienced subpar services during the 2023 Hajj ¹. This decision comes after the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah allocated 95,000 Hajj seats to Nigeria for the 2024 Hajj.
According to reports, the Commission’s Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, had previously requested a refund for feeding and tent services not provided in the Mashair during the 2023 Hajj ¹. The Saudi Authorities have promised to work on the refund, with the investigative committee’s results expected to be released soon .
NAHCON has been working to improve services for Nigerian pilgrims, including the introduction of the Hajj Savings Scheme, which allows intending pilgrims to save towards their Hajj expenses . The scheme is based on the Mudaraba (partnership) principle and provides a queue-based system for pilgrims to pay over a period.
