The Lagos State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has instructed the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries to revise its testimony-sharing approach. This follows condemnation of a viral testimony by a church member, claiming an old man appeared in an examination hall and provided answers to questions, which were also shared with a Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries member.
Lagos CAN Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, denounced the testimony as “an utter fabrication.” He confirmed that a meeting was held with the church’s representatives, ordering them to change their testimony-sharing pattern.
“We had the meeting last Friday at the CAN secretariat… and told them to be careful and review the pattern of their testimonies. It is only a madman who would think otherwise,” Bishop Adegbite stated.
The meeting, attended by over 100 people, including CAN’s five bloc leaders and coordinators from 57 local government areas, unanimously rejected unreasonable and misleading testimonies.
“We reject vehemently any testimony that is not reasonable and sensible, which can be misleading and bring disrepute to the name of Christ. We reject it in its entirety,” Bishop Adegbite emphasized.
To ensure credibility, CAN advised the church to pre-screen members’ testimonies before sharing.
“We told the leaders to ensure that they ask their members what they want to say before giving them the microphone. If what they want to say is not good for public consumption, it should be disallowed. God still performs miracles. We must say the truth and nothing but the truth,” Bishop Adegbite stressed.
This move aims to maintain the integrity and authenticity of Christian testimonies, promoting responsible sharing of miraculous experiences within the Lagos State Christian community.
