The Commissioner of Police in Benue State, CP Steve H. Yabanet, presented cheques totaling 45,887,000 Nigerian Naira to 43 beneficiaries of the police welfare scheme on behalf of Inspector General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun ¹. This gesture aims to support families of deceased police officers, easing the financial burden within the first year of their loss.
CP Yabanet emphasized the importance of investing this financial support in businesses to achieve self-reliance while awaiting additional benefits from the force. He offered these words while expressing sympathy to the beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to IGP Egbetokun for his timely support, noting that past experiences were not as smooth. They wished the IGP continued success in advocating for police officers’ rights.
This benevolent act aligns with IGP Egbetokun’s commitment to police welfare. Earlier this year, he distributed 1.6 billion Naira to 727 families of deceased police officers under the Group Life Assurance Policy . Since his appointment in 2023, Egbetokun has disbursed 7.3 billion Naira to 2,514 families, honoring the legacy and sacrifices of officers who served with valor.
This initiative demonstrates the police leadership’s dedication to the well-being of personnel and their families, ensuring they are not abandoned in times of need.
