Edo House of Assembly Recalls Two Suspended Lawmakers After Five-Month Suspension

The Edo House of Assembly has recalled two suspended lawmakers, Donald Okogbe and Adeh Isibor, after a five-month suspension.

The assembly initially suspended Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II), Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I), and Bright Iyamu (Orhionmwon South) on May 6 for allegedly plotting to impeach the Speaker and principal officers.

However, Bright Iyamu was recalled in June after showing remorse, according to Speaker Blessing Agbebaku. Agbebaku announced the recall of Okogbe and Isibor at the resumption of plenary in Benin.

The Speaker congratulated governor-elect Monday Okpebholo on his victory and expressed hope that sycophants would not mislead him. Agbebaku welcomed members back from recess, thanking them for diligently passing impactful bills and resolutions.

During plenary, the assembly approved a 57-sitting day calendar for the second quarter of its second session. The recall marks a significant reconciliation move, strengthening the legislative process and promoting unity among lawmakers.

The Edo Assembly is now whole again, paving the way for smoother operations and effective representation.
