A devastating fuel tanker explosion occurred yesterday evening in Bayelsa State, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos in its wake.

According to eyewitnesses, the fuel tanker caught fire and exploded along the Mbiama-Yenagoa Road, near the popular Swali Market.
“The tanker was attempting to navigate a sharp turn when it suddenly lost control, crashed, and burst into flames,” said local resident, Emmanuel Owei.
Multiple emergency agencies, including the Nigerian Fire Service and the Federal Road Safety Corps, responded promptly to contain the blaze and prevent further damage.
Although official casualty figures are yet to be confirmed, witnesses reported several injuries and vehicles destroyed.
“This is a tragic reminder of the risks associated with petroleum transportation,” stated Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri. “We will investigate the incident and provide support to affected families.”
The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation.
