Governor Hyacinth Alia has handed over a truck of diverted relief materials to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) for investigation.
The materials, meant for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Kwande/Ushongo federal constituency, were intercepted at a private residence in Makurdi. Preliminary investigations revealed the goods were from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and meant for distribution by the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
Governor Alia ordered the truck impounded and directed anti-graft agencies to investigate, citing suspicions of diversion. The NEMA Director-General praised Governor Alia’s vigilance and promised collaboration for fair distribution.
