The Edo State Police Command has apprehended a 57-year-old man, Edokpa Patrick, for possession of arms and ammunition in Ugomonson community. The suspect was found with a single barrel gun and 172 live cartridges.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Moses Yamu, the arrest was made possible through intelligence gathering. During interrogation, Patrick claimed to be a vigilante member but admitted to selling live cartridges. He further revealed that his wife, Blessing Edokpa, who is currently at large, was the primary seller of the cartridges, sourcing supplies from Onitsha in Anambra State.
The suspect will face charges in court once the investigation is complete. The police are urging the public to report any suspicious activities or individuals to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.
